FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

Why use a coating system on stone?

Marble and Limestone are composed of calcite which is highly sensitive to acid spills. Acid corrodes the surface and damages the polished or honed finish. Even acids in water can affect some stones leaving a white ring from a glass left on a bench top.

Clearstone and UltraSheer put a barrier over the entire surface like a layer of thin clear liquid glass filling the imperfections leaving a smooth surface that prevents any materials/chemicals from coming into contact with the natural stone.

Why are natural stone coatings developed?

Stone sealers are absorbed by natural stone, protecting stone from staining for only a limited time, but will never protect stone from etching.

I believe that coating the natural stone with Marbleseal's coatings is the only way to fix 100 percent of the problems associated with stone.

How long will my protective coating last?

Clearstone comes with a 10 year warranty

UltraSheer comes with a 10 year warranty

Does the Clearstone and Sheerstone coated stone look any different?

In most cases it doesn’t look any different, the coating is water clear and tends to enhance the look of the stone, bringing out its natural characteristics.

If my surface becomes scuffed or damaged after several years of use, can it be repaired?

Yes, a simple sand and polish will bring the Marble coating back to its original seamless and smooth surface.

If my stone bench top is already badly etched, can it be fixed?

Yes we can rejuvenate all porous stone tops back to its original condition, then apply our protective coating.

Can my Marble/Limestone top have either a high gloss or matt finish?

Yes, we can alter the finish anywhere from full gloss to matt .

What surfaces can Clearstone and ULTRASHEER be used on?

All of Marbleseal's coatings have been specially formulated to work on Marble, Limestone, Travertine and Onyx and Cement.
